Eagles of the Month!
Hadley is our October Eagle of the Month! She's an outstanding learner and always happy to give us her thoughtful insights during class discussions. She is a very prepared student that is always willing to complete her work and help others stay on task. Hadley is also a sweet friend that is always willing to reach out to her classmates.
Deiondre is an excellent example of an outstanding "Eagle! He is always ready with a helping hand, thoughtful suggestion, and excited energy. Deiondre is not only a good student, but he is a great friend to his classmates. We are proud to have him as our first "Eagle of the Month!" Mr. Taylor is arranging activities to honor these students. We can't wait to see other students earn this special recognition.
We love our friends in K!
YOLO- Why not be Batty and Drug Free?
Red Ribbon Spirit Week fell right before Halloween, so for the Annual Century Door Decorating Contest, we decided to go with Bats for the "YOLO Drug Free" theme. Although we didn't win the contest, the students were very proud of the door they created themselves! We say, "Why not be Batty?" :)
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom- Letters in Our Room!
During Shared Reading, we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr and listened to the story retold by Ray Charles on cd. The students love the rhyme and silly words that accompany the letters' journey up a coconut tree with all of the mishaps along the way up. Each of our friends found the letters that went with the first letter of our name and wrote their names on sentence strips all by ourselves! We are working on writing many different lower case and capital letters. We are very proud of our hard work and of the coconut tree in our classroom. :)
Some notes about Clothes/Shoes-
- P.E. is every Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure you have comfortable clothes appropriate for physical activities and always tennis shoes for P.E.
- We will have recess everyday and we will always move around our room. It is a good idea to wear comfortable shoes and clothes everyday. Sandals or flip-flops aren't always safe on the playground equipment or when running. Please make sure shoe laces are always tied with a double knot so they don't come untied throughout the day (and practice tying your laces at home, please!)
- Girls, if you wear a skirt, please make sure that you always have shorts underneath.
- We have plenty of opportunities to use the restroom, and can go as necessary, but occasionally in Kindergarten, bathroom accidents happen. Please always keep a gallon ziplock bag in each backpack with a change of clothes (shirt, shorts/pants, and underwear.) These can be old or "play" clothes and remain in the bag untouched for months. Hopefully we won't need to use them, but it is a good to have just incase.
- We will play, learn, explore, and eat everyday. We may paint, cut, draw, glue, and many other messy activities. Please keep this in mind when dressing your child for Kindergarten, because we are still learning and may have messes.
